THE REPUBLIC OF BASHKORTOSTAN: FARMERS PRODUCE DIETARY HEALTH MEAT

SOME PEASANTS AND FARMERS IN BASHKORTOSTAN PRODUCE UNIQUE DIETARY HEALTH MEAT.

The Panov family from Karan-Bishindy village, Tuymazinsky District breeds pot-bellied pigs, also commonly called “Vietnamese”. They have compact body and calm temper. They are neat; they don’t have a specific smell, and their breeding is cost effective. The meat of these pigs is considered to be dietary and healthy because it contains minimum levels of bad cholesterol.

In 2013, Vladimir Panov and his wife Guzel purchased two sows of this breed, paying 25,000 roubles for each. Now they already have 18 pigs in their farm. The piglets bred in Panov’s farm are very popular among customers. Recently, a buyer from Ulyanovsk Oblast bought pigs for breeding purposes from Panovs. The farmers are especially proud of the results they achieved after a three year selection of elite boars and sows. Considering the high demand for pot-bellied pigs, the Panov family plans to increase their pig stock and build additional household facilities, the administration of Tuymazinsky District says.
